Izakaya restaurant

Excellent food with reasonable prices, and portions are big enough. The atmosphere of this place is another level, they have special cheers whenever someone orders a sake bomb. It was a fun experience! Also, it was my birthday they offer us complimentary matcha cheesecake(which was great!) and took our picture with their instant camera. The staff were so welcoming. Highly recommend it here!

Very nice atmosphere inside especially at night. Cozy and low lighting with comfortable seating. The first time we tried our own makis, second time we chose chef’s choice for makis and it wasn’t as good as our own, even presentation wise. The hot fish and meat dishes are very good on the other hand. Generous portions for the sashimis is a good plus. Would recommend for a date or a small group of friends’ hangout.

I had the kaarage spicy pork ramen. Wow! Tastes incredible! Would totally recommend this place. I'm coming back to try the other ramen dishes. :)

It’s a decent place for a Japanese style pub like food run by Japanese. There are many Izakaya restaurants in Toronto nowadays and this one offer similar food quality based on my experience. I have started visited this restaurants years ago (when the other half was another restaurant selling reman).. thru out the years, these are now my favourite dish:-Mushroom salad - the mushroom are generous and nicely pan fried.-Fried soft chicken knuckle bones - for those soft bone lovers , boy I love it as it freshly fried! Lovely with lemon juice-chicken wing skewer(salt) - must try!! Nice charcoal aroma with crunchy skin and juicy meat inside-teba gyoza - they stuffed minced pork into a boneless chicken wing and fried them, with the soy sauce that come with the dish, soooo yummy!!These are my personal favourite dish and hope u will like it too if u haven’t tried…Price is not cheap though … so my rating overall is between 3.5 to 4 stars on average..

Suika has been a personal favourite of mine for about a decade now. Their attention to detail, unbeatable value, and unrelenting consistency in having fantastic dishes brings me back every time.You can just about close your eyes, randomly point at something in the menu, and it will be delicious. Today, I tried their Sansho vegan ramen, which was chocked full of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and used a kelp based broth, and despite having doubts, the ramen was delicious, and put a smile on my face.My regular favourites include the tuna tartare bowl, the umami bowl, the double tonkatsu set, the yuzu-kara karage bowl, and the uni ikura carbonara udon.Don’t forget about the sides though, their pressed sushi is fantastic, I adore their salmon pressed sushi, and if you’re feeling luxurious, the aburi bluefin tuna pressed sushi is magnificently buttery. They periodically bring the ebiten pressed sushi back, which comes with a delicious truffle infused soy sauce- if you see it, order it.Now, for their drinks. They may not have some hipster mixologist behind the bar, but they do mix fantastic drinks here. We really like their Suika aloe calpico, mojito and gin and tonic- it’s nice that they blend fresh watermelon for them. They’ve also dabbled with other ingredients, and they’ve been great. I also had this delightful basil and ginger gin and tonic recently.As a Japanese run business, I also cannot stress how excellent the service is, and how you will consistently get the enthusiastic greeting as you enter and leave, that comes standard in a Japanese Izakaya.I’ve loved Suika since I first stepped in for lunch in 2013, and they seem to only get better. If you haven’t eaten here yet, I’d strongly recommend giving it a try.

I’ve been here twice, the first time I had ramen and this time a rice bowl. This time that I went, the server was amazing because he knew that we were on a lunch break from school, so he ensured that our food was made and served as quickly as possible.

We tried the ramen, sushi, yakitori and bunch of other appetizers. All were quite tasty, especially the grilled squid! (Ikayaki). Staff were helpful and friendly. Also found the seating had a nice laid back vibe.

This was my first time to Kanpai and I will definitely be back! Service was impeccable, food was fantastic and the Japanese bar aesthetic was perfect. We were seated right away, given menus and served quickly. The food was great, the presentation was appealing and the drinks were fun spins on old favourites. The bathroom had disposable cups and mouth wash to use after as well. The staff also said thank you to every patron as they left. I had a wonderful time and it was a wonderful value.

Came here twice with different size groups, and both times staff were very nice and accommodating, service is great in general.We tried many of their menu items, and the fish has always tasted fresh for the nigiri, sushi, and tacos. The pastas are also extremely tasty, and the party trays are good value.Overall, the menu is pretty well priced for what you receive, and I would definitely come here regularly for Japanese food due to its convenient location.

Had an amazing time here. The staff is very attentive and sweet. We ordered a bunch of items but the stand outs were tuna tartare and spicy salmon sushi.The underwhelming item was kimchi udon. Found it quite sweet given the kimchi flavour. But overall, all food items were flavourful. Would go again to try more items!
